The average height of a man in the United Kingdom is currently 5ft 10 inches. Compared to the rest of Europe, Great Britain is mediocre. It’s not the tallest nation, and it is by no means the shortest. The country that takes the top spot for height is the Netherlands. The average Dutchman measures in at 6 ft. tall. Although this is two inches taller than the UK, it has been said that our average height will continue to rise.
A survey conducted by YouGuv recently revealed findings that women prefer men no shorter than 5 ft. 4 and no taller than 6 ft. 3. This gives men an extortionate amount of room to be able to be the ideal height to impress a woman, meaning that reaching the average height doesn’t really matter. The survey also found that when asked, men would prefer to be taller than the average height… Only by one inch though!
The average UK women is 5 ft. 4 tall, a figure that is once again in the middle when compared to other countries around the world. The nation with the tallest women is Latvia. Their average height for a woman in Latvia is 5 ft. 6.9 inches, which again, is two inches above the UK’s.
In the same YouGuv survey that was carried out, it found that men preferred women that were 5 ft. 6 inches tall. Once again, there was around a one-foot margin around the “ideal” height. This ranged from 5 ft. and went all the way to 6 ft. tall!
If it turns out that you are shorter than the national average height, then it’s fine. Falling out of the ideal height bracket would make you a minority… so your probably not there anyway! This is due to the fact that 94% of men are between 5 ft. 4. and 6 ft. 3, and 95% of women are between 5 ft. and 5ft. 11. So cheer up, and stop wishing for that extra inch!
